Nice Experience

I just want to say that in this class we told stories and at the same time we were a story. Each of us came with a story to tell and what I am taking from this class is writing a story about each one of us in class. I think I can even write a book about all these wonderful people I met. This is what I call storytelling. A story within a story. I will definately miss each one of you. Take Care!

Personal Reflection

This past Thursday, the class was more prepared and the presentations were awesome. Everyone had their own personal twist and were above all we have done so far. Great work to all. It was very enlightening.

"Loved One during NIU Massacre"

It was February 14th a clear day in Southern California. Everything was running smoothly throughout the day. I turned on the radio as I drove home when I heard on the radio that there had been a shooting at Nothern Illinois University. I heard that their were students injured. I knew my daughter was in school that day but I had no idea where she was or if she was one of the injured. I prayed to god hoping that she was o.k. and not injured. I parked grabbed my cell and called her cell. Please pick, please pick up. The phone was not getting in any calls, there was some interference with the lines. I tried several times but, no answer. I hurried home to call her form the house phone. As I was driving, I was asking myself "Why?" I got home called my daughter and with a relief, I heard her voice telling me"Mom, I am o.k." She told me afterwards that one of her classes was canceled and left school early. I was so thankful at that point that she was fine and that her class was canceled. It was not meant for her to be there at the time of the shooting. The gunman killed five students that were in class at that time.

"Power of the mind"

I have experienced some unique things that I would like to know what you think. Today I was thinking about money and telling myself that I was going to get money. Later during the day, I was using my computer at work and I dont know what I did that my printer started printing pictures of Ben Franklins. I said to myself, well I was thinking about money and that is money. After awhile, I went upstairs to check if I had mail and I passed by accounting and the lady called my name and said, "Maria Elena, I have something for you" I went into her office and she gave me one check for $115. dollars and one for $28. dollars. I could not believe my mind. Even if it was not alot of money. I was still amazed at the fact that I was thinking of money all day and money appeared before me. No matter what type it was or how much, it was money. What do you think happen, Coincidence or power of the mind?

"Sicko" by Michael Moore

Today I saw a documentary by Michael Moore called "Sicko." Wow! I really can't imagine the red tape that goes on regarding Health Care. I found out the Canada, France, England, and Cuba have UNiversal Health Care. They do not have to pay anything for medical care. I also found out that in France they have access to a free college education. Imagine that. I really recommend this documentary because it is heart breaking especially when you get to see people that volunteered in the "9-11" tradegy suffering from respiratory disorders and they have no access to health insurance. Watch it. Its mind blowing.
